Baseball Recap: Sheldon Huskies vs. Jesuit Marauders
Sheldon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They suffered a tough 15-3 loss at the hands of the Jesuit Marauders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Sheldon of the 4-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
Sheldon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devon Zavala, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
On Jesuit's side, Eric Erdmann made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Erdmann was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, a run, and a double.
In other pitching news, Cade Colombara looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances.
Back at the plate, Drew Vassar was incredible, going 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBI, and a run. Another player making a difference was Kenji Colston, who went 1-for-1 with three RBI, a triple, and a run.
Sheldon's loss dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Jesuit, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-10-1.
While Sheldon had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
