League recap: Mount Pleasant wins, gets boost in standings

Mount Pleasant was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in 2A Conference 9. The Tigers beat Central Academy 19-0 earlier in the week.

Monroe extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Parkwood, 46-7. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Redhawks.

Forest Hills's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jared Lee threw for 132 and 1 touchdown and Jaiquan Davis had 52 yards receiving. On the ground Lee contributed 133 yards. B. J. Ashcraft helped Forest Hills' passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 42 yards.

The Yellowjackets' dynamic duo of Lee and Davis proved tough for West Stanly to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ashcraft helped Forest Hills' passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 42 yards.

The Rebels' Grey Wyrick and Sam Mobley led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Wyrick has thrown for 1,197 yards this season, while Mobley has 36 catches for 652 yards. Forest Hills' Lee leads the league in rushing yards with 948.

John Lowery's team's Lee is a mere 52 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 137 carries Lee has accumulated 948 yard this year.

A big matchup in 2A Conference 9 this week will be when Mount Pleasant takes on Parkwood. As it stands, Michael Johns' team is in fourth, while Lynn Coble's team is in second.

The Rebels lost to Monroe 46-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tre Butler ran for 68 yards in the defeat.
