Basketball Recap: Miller Place Comes Up Short

Miller Place and Southampton squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Miller Place had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Southampton Mariners and fell 73-43. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while the Mariners are ranked 116th).

Southampton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Naevon Williams, who posted 24 points. Tyson Reddick was another key player, putting up 19 points.

Miller Place has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. The win was the 13th in a row for Southampton, bringing their record for this year to 20-1.

Miller Place does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southampton, they will face off against Mount Sinai at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
