Volleyball Recap: Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Nansemond River on Thursday, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy came back down to earth. The Saints lost 3-0 to The Covenant Eagles on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Saints of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-16, 25-18.

Campbell Spencer paced Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's offense, picking up four kills. Spencer got some help from Jossy Byars and her six assists.

Kalley Mcnish went supernova For The Covenant., getting 17 digs and four aces. Those 17 digs gave Mcnish a new career-high.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for The Covenant, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1.

Looking ahead, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy will head out on the road to take on Norfolk Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be the Saints' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for The Covenant, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-2 win against St. Catherine's on the 23rd.
