Recap: Gridley Bulldogs vs. Corning Cardinals
The Gridley Bulldogs can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They really took it to Corning for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-40 victory on the road. Given Gridley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Cardinals are ranked 743rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aaron Kullar was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bikram Kullar, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Corning still got an impressive performance from Roman Bennett, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals. Quinton Davis was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Gridley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Corning, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-12.
Gridley will be playing at home against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Orland will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Corning, they will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oroville is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
