Soccer Game Preview: Van Nuys vs. Canyon

The Van Nuys Wolves and the Canyon Cowboys will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Van Nuys is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 5.4 goals per game this season.

Van Nuys is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Reseda just ended the team's three-game winning streak last Friday. Both finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked Wolves' first draw of the season.

Nolberto Cartagena and Leelen Castro scored both of Van Nuys' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Meanwhile, Canyon didn't have quite enough to beat Golden Valley on Thursday and fell 3-2. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. Van Nuys' draw gives them a new season record of 5-1-1.

Van Nuys suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Canyon in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Van Nuys avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
