Basketball Game Preview: Slocomb Red Tops vs. Northside Methodist Academy Knights

The Slocomb Red Tops are taking a road trip to take on the Northside Methodist Academy Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Slocomb will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Slocomb got the win against Wicksburg by a conclusive 62-42. Given the Red Tops' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Panthers are ranked 370th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 93-48, which was the final score in Northside Methodist Academy's tilt against Houston Academy on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now lost six in a row.

Slocomb's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. As for Northside Methodist Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.

Slocomb was dealt a bruising 71-37 loss at the hands of Northside Methodist Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Slocomb avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
