Cripple Creek-Victor has been on the road for three straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Deer Trail Eagles at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The matchup between Cripple Creek-Victor and Moffat on Monday hardly resembled the 0-0 effort from their previous meeting. Cripple Creek-Victor took a 69-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Moffat. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite their loss, Cripple Creek-Victor saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Damian Reyes, who made all 7 shots he took from beyond the arc racking up 23 points and 0 assists, was perhaps the best of all. Meanwhile, everything went Deer Trail's way against Bethune on Saturday as Deer Trail made off with a 52-27 win. The win was just what Deer Trail needed coming off of a 52-14 defeat in their prior matchup.
Deer Trail got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lance Reed out in front who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Mursal Hussein, who scored 14 points.
Cripple Creek-Victor now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Deer Trail, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Cripple Creek-Victor haven't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 0 turnovers per game. However, it's not like Deer Trail struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 0 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
