Football Game Preview: Paetow Panthers vs. Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders

Two dominant backs in Jovan Rodriguez and John Hebert are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Paetow Panthers will take on the Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Paetow has given up an average of 33.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Paetow is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Jordan on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Panthers lost 45-21 to the Warriors. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Rodriguez and Patrick Spann. Spann had a great game and rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Meanwhile, Rodriguez did his best for the losing side, rushing for 103 yards on only 14 carries.

Meanwhile, Strake Jesuit waltzed into their contest on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They enjoyed a cozy 38-22 win over the Falcons. Given the Fighting Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 308th, while the Falcons are ranked 752nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Paetow's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Strake Jesuit, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Paetow has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 175.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Strake Jesuit struggles in that department as they've been averaging 371.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
