The Highland Park Giants will challenge the Rolling Meadows Mustangs at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Rolling Meadows took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Highland Park, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Highland Park turned things around against New Trier on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Trevians 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Giants have posted since May 6, 2025.
Lily Freedman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Freedman was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Arden Bubser was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Sofia Cisternino was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Highland Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Rolling Meadows was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 18-8 to Maine South. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by exactly ten runs.
Caylee Del Boccio and Vanessa Cobos did some serious damage despite the final result: Del Boccio went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Cobos went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was Cobos' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Taya Rozanski, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Rolling Meadows' loss dropped their record down to 11-18. As for Highland Park, their victory bumped their record up to 4-14.
Highland Park beat Rolling Meadows 6-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2022. Will the Giants repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
