Soccer Game Preview: Coronado vs. Monterey

Coronado hasn't had much luck against Monterey recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Coronado Mustangs will challenge the Monterey Plainsmen at 5:00 p.m. Coronado's defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Monterey's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Coronado's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Randall.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monterey). Everything went their way against Estacado on Tuesday as Monterey made off with a 10-0 victory. The Plainsmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by four goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Estacado from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Miguel Robledo led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Monterey's win bumped their record up to 3-0-1. As for Coronado, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.

Coronado might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Monterey in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Coronado avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
