Softball Game Preview: Rockwood Rockets vs. Windber Ramblers

The Rockwood Rockets are taking a road trip to square off against the Windber Ramblers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Rockwood gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against McConnellsburg by a score of 10-5.

Sydney Beals spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Rockwood let Addie Barkman and Miley Pletcher run wild. Barkman went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Pletcher went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three hits gave Barkman a new career-high. Taylor Demchak also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Windber was able to grind out a solid win over North Star on Wednesday, taking the game 4-1.

Rockwood's record now sits at 4-8. As for Windber, their record is now 7-3.

Rockwood suffered a grim 19-6 defeat to Windber in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
