Soccer Game Preview: Fairmont vs. Loveland

The Fairmont Firebirds will head out to take on the Loveland Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Fairmont is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Ohio's top teams: Perrysburg, who was ranked 19th at the time (Fairmont was ranked 16th). The Firebirds lost 4-0 to the Yellow Jackets on Saturday. Fairmont's defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in September, Loveland was forced to settle for a draw on Thursday. They and Milford finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw.

Fairmont's loss dropped their record down to 12-3-1. With that draw, Loveland's record moves to 10-3-2.

Fairmont beat Loveland 3-1 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
