Baseball Recap: Cedarburg Comes Up Short

Cedarburg had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 7-14 to make it four. They fell just short of the Grafton Black Hawks by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 on May 2nd.

As for Grafton, their win bumped their record up to 16-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 2nd.

For Grafton's part, Luke Michalak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. Michalak has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grafton's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Will Heinz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run. Sef Von Strobel also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedarburg will welcome Wauwatosa East at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Grafton, they will take on Hartford at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
