Softball Recap: John Paul II Catholic Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

After only one run in their last match, John Paul II Catholic made sure to put some runs up on the board against Arendell Parrott Academy on Tuesday. The Saints put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 15-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Logan Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played.

In other batting news, Alana Albritton and Cara Edwards did most of the damage at the plate: Albritton scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Edwards scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Bailey Tyndall, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

John Paul II Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Arendell Parrott Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Coming up, John Paul II Catholic will square off against Martin County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Arendell Parrott Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Cary Academy at 4:00 p.m. The Patriots will need to watch out since the Chargers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
