Recap: Florence Huskies vs. Salida Spartans
The Florence Huskies lost against the Salida Spartans back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. 2024 welcomed Florence with a 65-45 loss courtesy of Salida. Florence has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Florence had strong showings from Gage Goodall, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Gunnar Phillips, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and five assists. The contest was Goodall's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Garrett Royer, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Florence's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 4-6. As for Salida, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Florence will be playing at home against The Vanguard School at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vanguard School is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Salida, they will head out on the road to face off against Rye at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Rye focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday.
