Baseball Recap: Hilltop Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Hilltop came out on top against Edon on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Cadets walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Bombers. The win was familiar territory for the Cadets, who have now won three contests in a row.

Brennan Dempsey was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Toby Hartman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Alejandro Rubalcava was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Hilltop's record is now 12-7. As for Edon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hilltop will take on North Central at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cadets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Edon, they will face off against Pettisville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
