Troy had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a blow against the Jarrell Cougars on Tuesday, falling 67-29. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Leading Jarrell to victory were Aniya Taylor and Erica Taylor. Aniya went 9 for 17 en route to 22 points plus eight rebounds and two steals, while Erica earned 15 points plus seven steals. What's more, Aniya also racked up three offensive rebounds, the most she's had since back in November of 2023. Karis Brown was another key player, posting seven points in addition to six rebounds and two steals.
Jarrell now has a winning record of 2-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Troy will venture away from home to challenge Rockdale at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jarrell, they will head out to face off against Thrall at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
