Basketball Game Preview: Sands Mustangs vs. Garden City Bearkats

The Sands Mustangs will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Garden City Bearkats at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Sands came up short against Midland Classical Academy on Saturday, falling 59-39.

Meanwhile, Garden City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 51-35 fall against Veribest. While losing is never fun, the Bearkats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1195th, while the Falcons are ranked 557th).

Garden City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Sands, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Sands and Garden City were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January, but Sands came up empty-handed after a 45-44 defeat. Can Sands avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
