Baseball Recap: Lutheran's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Byron, Lutheran was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Rock Falls Rockets by a score of 13-9. Considering the Crusaders' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

The team relied heavily on Mason Villafuerte, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Lutheran is 3-1 when Villafuerte posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Carlson, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Lutheran's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7. As for Rock Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6-1.

Coming up, Rock Falls will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Byron at 4:30 p.m. The Tigers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Rockets surely won't give up without a fight. Lutheran will be paying especially close attention to Rock Falls' matchup: after Rock Falls faces off against Byron, they'll take on Lutheran again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
