Softball Recap: Craigmont Chiefs vs. Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs
Craigmont extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pharaohs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 on Thursday.
As for Raleigh-Egypt, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-3. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
For Raleigh-Egypt's part, Keira Ressler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Ressler has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Tamrya Webb was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Miyanna A, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Coming up, Craigmont will head out to face off against Cordova at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Raleigh-Egypt, they will face off against Middle College at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
