Basketball Recap: Kaiser Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Castle

On Monday, Kaiser faced Castle in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Kaiser Cougars took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Castle Knights. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Davis Mitchell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Castle, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. Josiah Shinbara was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points.

Kaiser's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-7. As for Castle, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Kaiser Cougars duke it out with the McKinley Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Castle, they will face off against Kalani at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
