Preview: Northland Prep Academy Spartans vs. Highland Prep Honey Badgers
After six games on the road, Northland Prep Academy is heading back home. They will take on the Highland Prep Honey Badgers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northland Prep Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Highland Prep will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, Northland Prep Academy beat Phoenix Christian 31-22. That's two games straight that Northland Prep Academy has won by exactly nine points.
Northland Prep Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noe Rhon, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Nat Auker was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Highland Prep, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-32 loss to Glendale Prep Academy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Highland Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Glendale Prep Academy is ranked 82nd).
Northland Prep Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Highland Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.
Everything came up roses for Northland Prep Academy against Highland Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 55-17 win.
