Recap: Hillcrest Knights vs. Blackfoot Broncos

The Hillcrest Knights entered their tilt with the Blackfoot Broncos with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Hillcrest walked away with a 70-58 win over Blackfoot on Friday. Given Hillcrest's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Blackfoot is ranked 68th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hillcrest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Hepworth, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hepworth pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Talan Taylor, who scored 14 points along with three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Blackfoot lost, one person who can't be blamed is Colby Bodkin. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Sy Callister was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.

Hillcrest pushed their record up to 7-6 with that win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.6 points per game. As for Blackfoot, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Hillcrest will head out on the road to take on Idaho Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Idaho Falls comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Blackfoot, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bonneville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
