Basketball Game Preview: Pinnacle Pioneers vs. Mesa Jackrabbits

The Pinnacle Pioneers will square off against the Mesa Jackrabbits at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pinnacle has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Pinnacle is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against Higley by a score of 74-62. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Pioneers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st in Arizona, while the Knights are ranked 14th in Arizona).

Tucson High Magnet School typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Mesa proved too difficult a challenge. They secured a 52-46 W over the Badgers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jackrabbits.

Mesa's win bumped their record up to 20-7. As for Pinnacle, their victory bumped their record up to 10-17.

Pinnacle strolled past Mesa in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 65-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinnacle since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
