Volleyball Recap: West Greene Comes Up Short

West Greene was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-1 to the McGuffey Highlanders. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Highlanders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2019.

West Greene started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-15, 27-25, 25-15.

West Greene's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for McGuffey, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Greene will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Avella at 5:30 p.m. on September 9. As for McGuffey, they will be playing at home against Brownsville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
