Baseball Recap: Clovis West Drops Season-High Score on Paso Robles

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clovis West). Everything went their way against the Paso Robles Bearcats on Friday as Clovis West made off with an 11-3 win. With that victory, the Golden Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Nolin Santillan made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other pitching news, Reece Van Alen looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.

Back at the plate, Clovis West let Luke Gonzales and Peyton Miscione run wild. Gonzales scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Miscione scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Gonzales a new career-high in RBI (three). Micah Raygoza also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Clovis West and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Paso Robles, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Coming up, Clovis West will welcome Tehachapi at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Paso Robles, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Paso Robles Bearcats challenge Pioneer Valley Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
