Basketball Preview: Glenwood Gators vs. Morgan Academy Senators
Glenwood has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Morgan Academy Senators at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Glenwood is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Senators in Alabama (the Gators are ranked 117th, while the Senators are ranked 322nd).
Last Friday, Glenwood came up short against the Warriors and fell 44-35. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Glenwood in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.
Morgan Academy can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 61-29 victory over Monroe Academy. The win was just what Morgan Academy needed coming off of a 59-35 defeat in their prior contest.
Morgan Academy found their leader in underclassman CJ Christopher Williams, who scored 28 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Morgan Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wallis Gilmore, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds.
Glenwood's loss dropped their record down to 21-10. As for Morgan Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
Everything came up roses for Glenwood against the Senators when the teams last played back in February of 2017 as the squad secured a 68-34 victory. With Glenwood ahead 45-18 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
