Basketball Recap: Wicomico Comes Up Short

Wicomico entered their game against Parkside on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wicomico Indians fell just short of the Parkside Rams by a score of 54-52. The Indians were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 55-42.

Despite the loss, Wicomico still got an impressive performance from Se'Lah Foreman, who went 14-for-30 en route to 32 points. Foreman's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlisa Johnson, who went 5-for-9 on her way to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Wicomico smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Parkside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zion Oge, who posted 15 points. Ta'Layah Clark was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Wicomico's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 14-1 and their overall record down to 17-3. As for Parkside, their victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2.

Coming up, Wicomico will head out to take on Cape Henlopen at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cape Henlopen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season. As for Parkside, they will host Decatur at 6:00 p.m. on February 21st.
