Softball Recap: Mount Vernon Comes Up Short

If Mount Vernon was riding high fresh off their 13-3 takedown of Chisum on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell 8-5 to the Lone Oak Buffaloes on Friday. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Buffaloes earlier this season, when they won 8-4.

Ashtyn Redar made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two triples and two RBI. Those triples marked the first that she has hit this season. Kelsey Barron was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Mount Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10-1. As for Lone Oak, their record is now 10-16.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mount Vernon will take on rival Prairiland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Lone Oak is set to face off against their familiar foe Rains at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
