Basketball Game Preview: Holland Dutch vs. West Ottawa Panthers

Holland hasn't had much luck against West Ottawa recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Holland Dutch will venture away from home to take on the West Ottawa Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Holland will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

While Holland didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They managed a 51-47 victory over Forest Hills Eastern on Tuesday. Given the Dutch's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Hawks are ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Ottawa). They blew past West Catholic 83-63 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Holland pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for West Ottawa, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Holland couldn't quite finish off West Ottawa in their previous matchup back in February and fell 56-54. Can Holland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
