Basketball Recap: Dylan Hoehler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Nebraska Lutheran over Weeping Water

Nebraska Lutheran was the 50-38 winner over Weeping Water when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Nebraska Lutheran Knights fell 58-49 to the Weeping Water Indians on Friday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nebraska Lutheran lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dylan Hoehler, who went 7 for 8 on his way to 14 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lukas Worster, who posted 20 points along with seven boards and five steals.

Weeping Water's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Fulton, who went 10 of 21 on his way to 27 points. Those 27 points gave Fulton a new career-high. Jerderick Brito-Diaz was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Nebraska Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Weeping Water, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nebraska Lutheran will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Osceola at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Weeping Water, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Conestoga at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
