Softball Game Preview: Dobson Mustangs vs. Skyline Coyotes

The Dobson Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Skyline Coyotes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dobson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Dobson made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Gilbert, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Mustangs fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Mustangs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Allie Hanson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dobson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emrey Walker, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Skyline got the win against Mesa on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-4. The Coyotes haven't had any issues with the Jackrabbits recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Skyline's win bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Dobson, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Dobson couldn't quite get it done against Skyline in their previous meeting last Tuesday as they fell 11-8. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
