Baseball Recap: Providence Day's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Providence Day not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 12th. Everything went their way against the Caldwell Academy Eagles as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Chargers, who have now won three games in a row.

Hudson Poindexter looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Providence Day is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Cullen Ward and Austin Ward did most of the damage at the plate: Cullen scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Austin went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Cullen a new career-high. Brendan Ravin was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1.

Providence Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Providence Day's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Caldwell Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Providence Day will head out on the road to square off against Cox Mill at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence Day is facing Cox Mill at the right time seeing as Cox Mill is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Caldwell Academy, they will take on Independence in a tournament on Tuesday.
