Baseball Recap: Eldred Drops Season-High Score on Liberty

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eldred). They put the hurt on the Liberty Indians with a sharp 13-5 win on Monday. With that victory, the Yellowjackets brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Austin Spannos was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Eldred is undefeated when Spannos posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-4 otherwise. Peyton Brischler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Eldred and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Liberty, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Eldred and Liberty will both be playing Chapel Field Christian the next time they take the field. The Indians will head out to face the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Yellowjackets will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
