Basketball Recap: Mount Olive Comes Up Short

Mount Olive was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Leake County Gators and fell 83-28. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-35 last Thursday.

LaTavean Fortune continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Leake County, going 13 for 18 on his way to 35 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. Fortune continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nigel Kincaid, who went 6 of 8 en route to 14 points and six assists.

Mount Olive's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Leake County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.

Mount Olive will challenge Taylorsville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Taylorsville will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Mount Olive surely won't give up without a fight. As for Leake County, they will take on Piney Woods at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
