Baseball Recap: Brookland-Cayce Takes a Loss

Brookland-Cayce was not able to break out of their rough patch on Sunday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 13-2 to the Mauldin Mavericks. The contest marked the Bearcats' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Preston Coggins was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. That run was his first of the season.

Brookland-Cayce's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookland-Cayce will square off against South Aiken at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mauldin, they will welcome Hillcrest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillcrest's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Mauldin's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
