Football Game Preview: Leake Academy Rebels vs. Tri-County Academy Rebels

Leake Academy will head out on the road to face off against Tri-County Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Leake Academy comes in on six and Tri-County Academy on five.

Leake Academy is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Riverfield Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Rebels blew the Raiders out of the water with a 45-16 final score. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 27 points or more this season.

Leake Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but George Wilcox led the charge by throwing for 288 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt, and also punching in one score on the ground. Wilcox has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last five times he's played. Gage Warren was Wilcox's top target, picking up 157 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Leake Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Coby Kemp and Brennan Evans. Kemp also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 19.

Meanwhile, while Tri-County Academy put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Central Hinds Academy. The Rebels simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cougars 50-0. That 50 point margin sets a new team best for the Rebels this season.

Leake Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Tri-County Academy, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-1.
