Dekaney hasn't had much luck against Aldine recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Dekaney Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Aldine Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. Dekaney is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Dekaney's tournament run continued when they took on Mayde Creek on Friday. Dekaney was the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over Mayde Creek. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Micah Green made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrian Martinez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 13 games. Isaac Fontenot was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
Dekaney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Aldine waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Rams get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. That looming 9-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.
Felix Melendez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Aldine let Gabriel Nunez and Alfredo Martinez run wild. Nunez scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Martinez scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Luis Abrego also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Dekaney is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. Aldine's record is now 4-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dekaney has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Aldine struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Dekaney couldn't quite get it done against Aldine when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can Dekaney avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
