Softball Recap: Rouse Takes a Loss

Rouse was the 10-2 winner over Liberty Hill when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Rouse Raiders took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Liberty Hill Panthers on Tuesday.

Blakely Barber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 14 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February of 2024.

On the hitting side, Havana Hiegert was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Delaney Vannoy, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Rouse hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive matchups.

Rouse's loss dropped their record down to 5-5-2. As for Liberty Hill, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-2-1.

Rouse wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-4 win against Hays on the 7th. As for Liberty Hill, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-3 victory against Lockhart on the 7th.
