Softball Game Preview: Schenectady Patriots vs. Scotia-Glenville Tartans

The Schenectady Patriots will face off against the Scotia-Glenville Tartans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Schenectady has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with 15 straight losses, while Scotia-Glenville will come in with three straight victories.

Friday just wasn't the day for Schenectady's offense. They came up short against Albany on Friday, falling 15-0.

Meanwhile, Scotia-Glenville never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Gloversville as they made off with a 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Tartans, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Keeley Kristel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Scotia-Glenville let Julie Cooper and Molly Juedes run wild. Cooper got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Juedes went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four runs gave Cooper a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Martin, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Scotia-Glenville's victory bumped their record up to 12-3-1. As for Schenectady, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
