Basketball Recap: Kathleen Comes Up Short

Kathleen scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They were dealt a 78-44 loss at the hands of the Jordan Christian Prep Seahawks. The defeat leaves the Red Devils without a win on the season.

When it comes to explaining why Kathleen lost, don't look at Gabriela Villegas. Despite the final result, she posted 26 points. The dominant performance gave Villegas a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Roper, who earned 18 points.

Leading Jordan Christian Prep to victory were Amelia Williams and Nana John Soumah. Williams dropped a double-double on 32 points and 22 rebounds, while John Soumah had 25 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Jordan Christian Prep's points. Natasha Durand-McClain was another key player, putting up 11 points and five assists.

Kathleen's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Jordan Christian Prep, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Kathleen won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Four Corners at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Jordan Christian Prep, they will be taking part in a tournament against Cypress Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cypress Bay will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Jordan Christian Prep surely won't give up without a fight.
