Los Osos is 2-8 against Damien since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Grizzlies will look to defend their home field against the Spartans at 3:15 p.m. Los Osos is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
On Friday, Los Osos was able to grind out a solid win over Upland, taking the game 7-2.
Gavin Loeb-Keene tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Andrew Cromwell was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Samples, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Los Osos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Upland only posted an OBP of .323.
Chino Hills hit Damien with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans fell 7-3 to the Huskies. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Russell Del Castillo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Damien is 5-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 7-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Gino Tarzia made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Damien's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Los Osos, their victory bumped their record up to 15-6.
Los Osos was able to grind out a solid win over Damien in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-3. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
