Volleyball Game Preview: Edgewood Mustangs vs. North Putnam Cougars

The Edgewood Mustangs will take on the North Putnam Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Edgewood has three straight wins, North Putnam has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Edgewood won the last time they faced South Putnam and Kelianys Rosario-Aguilar did her part to make sure it happened again. The Mustangs came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday thanks in part to Rosario-Aguilar, who had 23 digs and four aces. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 10.3 digs per game.

Edgewood walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 20-25, 25-9, 25-22.

Edgewood can attribute much of their success to Cora Emmons, who had 11 digs and one assist, and Reyanna Dryer, who had seven digs and two assists. That's the most assists Dryer has posted since back in September.

Meanwhile, North Putnam lost 3-0 to Cascade on Tuesday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-11, 25-13.

North Putnam's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Edgewood, their win bumped their record up to 15-11.

Edgewood took their victory against North Putnam in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
