Shekinah Christian has won four straight games at home, while Granville Christian Academy has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. Aiden Nofziger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Shekinah Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Max Kilzer and Jayce Yoder did most of the damage at the plate: Kilzer went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Yoder went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Shekinah Christian is undefeated when Kilzer posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Brayden DiCarro was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Shekinah Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centennial only posted a batting average of .133.
Meanwhile, Granville Christian Academy got the win against Madison Christian on Tuesday by a conclusive 9-3. The win continues a trend for Granville Christian Academy in their matchups with Madison Christian: they've now won four in a row.
Like Shekinah Christian, Granville Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Bentley Johnson. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Josiah Green was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jacob Fabbro, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Granville Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Shekinah Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Shekinah Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Granville Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
