Softball Recap: Rock Island Has No Trouble Against Orion

Rock Island won the last time they faced Orion and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Rocks put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 11-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rocks.

Lilly McDaniel was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jozie Kerr, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of A'Rion Lonergan, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Rock Island hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Rock Island's record now sits at 12-6. As for Orion, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-13.

Rock Island has already played their next matchup, a 4-0 win against Moline on the 24th. As for Orion, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-4 loss against Riverdale on the 24th.
