Basketball Recap: Leonie Boyer Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Andrean

Rushville was handed a 36-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. It was close, but they capped 2024 with a 42-40 win over the Andrean Fighting 59ers. That's more bragging rights for the Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Rushville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Leonie Boyer led the charge by putting up 12 points. Gracie Buzzard was another key player, posting seven points.

Despite the loss, Andrean still got an impressive performance from Maddie Walton, who went 11 of 14 on her way to 25 points. That's the most points Walton has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Grasha, who posted five points.

The victory got Rushville back to even at 7-7. As for Andrean, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Rushville has already played their next contest, a 59-19 defeat against Floyd Central on the 28th. As for Andrean, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 46-36 loss against Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger on the 28th.
