Recap: Putnam Clippers vs. Lyman Memorial Bulldogs
The Putnam Clippers lost against the Lyman Memorial Bulldogs back in March of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Putnam took a 49-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lyman Memorial. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Putnam has scored all season.
Several Clippers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Rudman, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals. Rudman hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Travis Fredette was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Lyman Memorial's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kevin Botticello, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Botticello hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jordan Chandler, who scored 13 points.
Putnam has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Lyman Memorial, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7.
Putnam will take on Killingly at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Killingly is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Lyman Memorial, they will head out on the road to square off against Bacon Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Bacon Academy is ranked 151st, while Lyman Memorial is ranked 160th).
