Baseball Recap: Sehome Gets the Win

Sehome lost to Ferndale back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Mariners came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 5-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Mariners' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Riley Carlson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Carlson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gunnar Anderson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Sehome's record now sits at 6-8. As for Ferndale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sehome will take on Lynden at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mariners are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Ferndale, they will square off against Bellingham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
