Football Recap: Plattsmouth Comes Up Short

Plattsmouth extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-4. They were dealt a 55-13 defeat at the hands of the Waverly Vikings. The Blue Devils were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Defeat or not, Plattsmouth got some senior leadership from Bradin Vanwinkle and Traceson Skalberg. Vanwinkle threw for 172 yards and two TDs, while Skalberg picked up 138 receiving yards. Skalberg was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 66 yards.

As for Waverly, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Waverly was led to victory by Nathan Axmann and Brockston Teply. Axmann gained 187 total yards and three touchdowns, while Teply threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. Teply has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plattsmouth will host Platteview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils will be up against the Trojans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Waverly, they will welcome Norris at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Titans have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
